Beyond B.O.W. Women’s Muzzleloader Hunt 2019

Our mission at Ground Level Outdoors has always been about getting kids involved in the outdoors. We have expanded that goal to getting women and families involved as well. We try to encourage families to experience hunting, fishing, kayaking, or any other outdoor activity of choice and reduce the amount of indoor idleness and “screen-time” prevalent today.

Opening weekend of Muzzleloader season, November 8-10, 2019, I had the opportunity to attend the TWRA’s Beyond B.O.W. Women’s Muzzleloader Hunt at Buffalo Ridge Refuge. It was a lot of fun. There were 32 women at the event and at least 19 deer (only 2 big bucks) were harvested. There were 3 hunting sessions; Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. We drew for stands/blinds and were in different locations each session. The TWRA officers at this event were fabulous, the food was delicious, the women that I had a chance to talk to were great and I made a new friend. We have already made plans to attend the TWRA Trapping Workshop in February and the TWRA B.O.W. event in June together. I’m glad that my TWRA officer friend encouraged me to sign up for this and I’m looking forward to next year’s event. I’m grateful to God that I was able to harvest this big guy. I was very blessed that weekend.

Details on my buck: 9 pt, 200# on the hoof, 155# field dressed. Yes, he will be on my wall!
